Grit (last lap)

Turns out that Grit is basically a backyard ultra. After five laps I’ve seen enough to know that this event could go on forever. So I’ll just wrap it up and continue to move on (which is basically the same as continuing to do more laps in the Grit backyard).

Grit is defined by psychologist Angela Duckworth (she’s basically taken ownership of the word) as the combination of passion and perseverance for long-term goals.

Rather than relying solely on innate talent or intelligence, it emphasizes sustained effort and stamina over years or decades.

True grit requires maintaining focus on an overarching ambition even when progress plateaus or failures occur.

This resilience is developed through four core psychological assets: interest, deliberate practice, purpose, and hope.

Ultimately, grit demonstrates that consistent daily discipline (consistency) matters far more to high achievement/optimal performance than fleeting bursts of raw ability.

TRECHO is the primary Greek word for "to run."

While it literally describes physical running in haste, the New Testament frequently uses TRECHO as an athletic metaphor for maximum exertion, spiritual endurance and continuous forward progress.
